Is Ivy blind?
ReplyDeleteYes, and this seems like it has to be symbolic. She's a character who physically can't see, but maybe she can "see" things that other characters cannot/refuse to see. BOOM!
DeleteIvy reminds me of Star Wars because it seems like she has "the force" when she hears the children screaming
DeleteWho is Noah and why does he need medicine?
ReplyDeleteI think Noah is dead but lucis want to get medicine for kids like noah
DeleteWhere is this taking place?
ReplyDeleteA village bro.
DeleteA village and maybe late 1800s

DeleteWhat is in the black box???
ReplyDeleteWhy do the beasts wear clothes?
ReplyDeleteDid Lucius actually bring the creatures onto the village? Or was it something else the village did?
ReplyDeleteWhy does Ivy always tell Lucious she won't tell him what his color is, even though he never asks her?
ReplyDeleteMaybe the color that she sees for people is symbolic of who they are or who they are going to become.
DeleteIs ivy blind?
ReplyDeleteYes
DeleteYes.
DeleteI think she is because she uses a cane to move around and she never looks people in the eye, but she does say that she can see colors that the people give off
DeleteWhat is that box in peoples homes?
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the box from "The Lottery"--something about traditions we keep without fully understanding why.
DeleteWhy does red attract them?
ReplyDeleteMaybe because red resembles blood and that is what the ones they do no speak of are attracted to
DeleteWhy are the villagers forbidden to go into the woods?
ReplyDeleteThey are scared of the creatures in the woods tha try to hurt them or something like that.
DeleteBecause of the "those we don't speak of"
DeleteI think they are scared of the sounds and what is in there or like what they think is in there.
DeleteWhy do they where the color yellow? Does it repel "those we don't speak of?"
ReplyDeleteWhy are they so outgoing
ReplyDeleteWhy does he want to know the color of his blood? Why would it be different?
ReplyDeleteWhy are the colors yellow and red significant?
ReplyDeleteRed is the color that attracts the meat eaters, and although we have not been directly told this, I think the yellow is a peaceful color that does not attract the meat eaters.
DeleteWhat is Ivy talking about when she says "your color?"
ReplyDeleteLike Leclaire said, she could be seeing something no one else can because of her lack of normal vision, like she is seeing some sort of aura around them, whether or not they are pure or something
DeleteWas I the only one who thought the creatures in the woods were Native Americans at first?
ReplyDeleteAt first I though it was people dressed up but it obviously isn't upon further investigation.
DeleteWhy does that happen so often?
ReplyDeleteBecause of the great frequency that it seems to occur.
Deletedoes Noah have a mental illness?
ReplyDeleteYeah I think he has a form of autism or ADHD.
DeleteI believe so.
DeleteWhat does the yellow and red represent?
ReplyDeletei think the yellow and the red represent the separation between the village and those they dont speak of. the village is yellow, and the bad people beyond the forest are red.
DeleteWhats up with the box?
ReplyDeleteI think that wahatever is in the box, is going to have a huge impact in the story and is going to show another side of a character in the film.
DeleteWhat is the history between the people of the village and "those they don't speak of"?
ReplyDeleteIm not totally sure, but I think the have some sort of rivalry and they get mad if they cross each others territory
DeleteWho was Daniel Nicholson? And was important to the village?
ReplyDeleteI can't say that I understand what you're asking.
DeleteAre the villagers not allowed to go into the woods because they don't know what is out there?
ReplyDeleteWhat do the creatures and the color red symbolize? -Michael Sullivan
ReplyDeleteWhy did the girls bury the flower in the beginning of the movie? and why do they hate the color red?
ReplyDeleteThey buried the flower because it was red and red symbolizes the others, which they are scared of.
DeleteI believe it has something to do with attracting "those they do not speak of"
DeleteWhat are the things attacking their town and why do they do it?
ReplyDeleteThey are demon like creatures that lived with boundaries for awhile but those boundaries were broke so now they want the villagers to leave their land.
DeleteWhy does a certain color attract the other things? How does that connect to the colors Ivy says she sees?
ReplyDeleteWhy does the color red attract "the ones we do not speak of"
ReplyDeleteSome consider the devil to be red, and "the ones we do not speak of" could be symbolized as the devil
DeleteBecause they search for BLOOD!!! yes Kenny! They are all out to eat all the villagers and red is what they find most appealing!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!
DeleteIt seems to be the preferred color of "the ones we don't speak of" since the first one shown in the film is seen wearing a red cloak.
DeleteWhy are red and yellow the colors that were chosen to have a significant meaning in the movie?
ReplyDeleteRed and yellow were actually my high school colors, but that's not really important. I associate yellow with cowardice, but the characters associate it with safety. Are we cowardly in seeking safety, I wonder? Red I associate with alarm and danger. The film, as you'll see today, associates it with blood. Interesting that they chose an actress with red hair to play Ivy...
DeleteWhy did the group of boys put one of them on that tree stump?
ReplyDeleteIt was just a game to see how long they could stay on the stump without getting scared off by "those we don't speak of."
DeleteDid Ivy lose her sight?
ReplyDeleteWhere is this all happening?
Yes Ivy is blind.
DeleteI think that she has always been partially bling, but I think she can still see like shapes and colors in general.
DeleteThis is all taking place in a small secluded village.
What is in the box in the corner?
ReplyDeleteWhat are "those they do not speak of"?
ReplyDeleteThe red figures or beings.
DeleteThey are called "meat eaters." The teacher referenced them during the first skinned dead animal sighting.
DeleteI'm not 100 percent sure but I do think that this has to do with why they don't like the color red because it reminds them of the unknown or those they don't speak of
DeleteWhy does it seem like the adults are more scared of the forest than the kids are?
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's because the adults know more about the forest than the kids. The adults are trying to protect the kids.
DeleteThe adults know what the forest is and what it entails. The children are learning from their parents the forest is bad, but they aren't as scared because they don't understand the threats that the forest may have.
DeleteI agree with Lauren. The adults are more informed of what's out there and the capabilities of the creature's wrath, so the kids are left more in the dark rather than having so much information that they can't sleep at night. So like Lauren said, the adults are protecting the kids.
DeleteI agree, it seems like since the adults have been around longer they have more things they know to fear.
DeleteWhat are the spiked creatures referred to as "those we do not speak of"?
ReplyDeleteI feel as if some type of conflict happened in the past which involved the people and "those we do not speak of" and something bad happened so they just both went there separate ways and don't really interact.
DeleteI think it has a connection to the saying "ignorance is bliss." They know who they are and what there capable of but rather then acknowledging them, it's best to almost ignore them unless they are directed too, in that way it's a coping mechanism.
DeleteIs the fact that Ivy is blind have a much more symbolic role?
ReplyDeletei think it makes her almost special and more important because since she is lacking in one sense the other are heightened making her more interactive with her surroundings
DeleteI believe that Ivy is only blind when she has visions, or "sees the colors". I think this shows her removal from the world and the difference between what she sees normally and what she sees in her visions.
DeleteWhy does the older sister get married so quickly after getting rejected by Lucius?
ReplyDeleteI think she wanted to show Lucius that she had moved on, especially after he embarrassed her so badly by rejecting her.
DeleteShe might not like being lonely
Deletewhat created the divide between the villagers and those they dont speak of?
ReplyDeleteWhy do they have so many rules/ regulations?
ReplyDeleteI think they have rules because of what lives outside the village
DeleteI agree with Alex, they are afraid of what's on the outside.
DeleteDressing up to instill fear almost as if they are their rulers, whats going on here?
DeleteI think that they have these rules because they are so afraid of what is on the outside of the village that the rules make them feel safe and in control.
DeleteI think that they have these rules because they are so afraid of what is on the outside of the village that the rules make them feel safe and in control.
DeleteI think that the ones we don't speak of are a symbol of fear
ReplyDeleteThe safe rocks are in contrast with the actual safety of The Village. Once they find out the Elder's trapped them in they will feel less safe.
ReplyDeleteThere is no money in their society so how do they keep the people motivated
ReplyDeleteThey thought if they could lie to people they could keep their way of life going.
ReplyDeleteThey tried hiding from the pain the outside world causes them.
ReplyDeleteThis is taking place in a small village, with not too many people. A pretty secluded area
ReplyDeleteDo you think that this society formed as an escape from regular society? The old woman who talks about her sister being murdered seems like she wanted to escape the world that took her sister so she became part of the village to isolate herself. The way they all treat the outside world with disdain makes me think the founders all had a similar experiences.
